TIEd Together – Turning the lens on prostate cancer

The exhibition is a Canadian-first community awareness initiative exposing the devastating physical, emotional and mental impact of living with prostate cancer. It includes portraits of real people with real stories including notables such as Jack Layton, Pierre Trudeau, Alex Baumann, Brett Wilson and Preston Manning. In addition, the exhibition also has a touch screen unit displaying 10 personal video interviews with prostate cancer survivors and their loved ones from across Canada.

For over 20 years, PhotoSensitive has been highlighting social issues through black-and-white photography, covering topics such as AIDS, environmental issues, health, First Nations literacy and natural disasters. With TIEd Together, PhotoSensitive is now turning its lens onto the issue of prostate cancer.

There has never been a more pressing need to raise awareness of this condition. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer to afflict men, with more than 25,000 Canadian men expected to be diagnosed this year. During his lifetime, one in seven men will be diagnosed with the disease.

TIEd Together will launch in Toronto on January 10, with an exclusive media event at Brookfield Place. The exhibit will then be open, in the same location, to the public from January 10 to 21, before travelling across Canada

Media are invited to attend the launch to experience first-hand the impact of the photos and stories and speak personally with local prostate cancer survivors featured in the exhibit. Prostate Cancer Canada and PhotoSensitive representatives will also be on-hand for interview opportunities.
