September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, with rates of incidence and mortality similar to those of breast cancer in women. During his lifetime, 1 in 7 Canadian men will be diagnosed with the disease; this number is expected to rise to 1 in 4 within a decade. Because over 90% of prostate cancer cases are curable if detected and treated in their earliest stages, early detection is key.

If there’s one overriding message Prostate Cancer Canada and many prostate cancer survivors have for Canadian men, it is to take charge of their health. PCC encourages men to educate themselves on prostate cancer, and initiate a discussion with their doctor about their prostate cancer risk. Please look through our website at prostatecancer.ca and encourage the men you love to talk openly about the disease.

The striped tie (and scarf) are the symbol of hope for prostate cancer. You can help raise awareness of this disease buy purchasing one from our online store. We ask that when you wear it, you tell just one person why you’re wearing it and encourage those men you know over 40, to have the discussion with their doctor about their prostate cancer risk.
