We accept applications from all areas of prostate cancer research. Our rigorous peer review process ensures that only the most promising research projects are chosen. Review teams are composed of researchers with the appropriate expertise to evaluate the applications. Research proposals should contribute directly to the mission of Prostate Cancer Canada. Prior work in the area of cancer is not a prerequisite. Q: How can I receive research funding from you? A: We offer several funding opportunities throughout the year. All grants and awards require formal applications and are subject to specific eligibility requirements. Check the Information for Scientists tab for full details on current competitions. Applications are completed online. Q: What are the eligibility requirements for a grant? A: You must be based in, or formally affiliated with, an eligible Canadian host institution such as a university, research institute or health care agency. Applications from for-profit organizations are not eligible. We allow applications from all areas of prostate cancer research. Check the Information for Scientists tab for full details on current competitions. Q: Why isn't my name on the list of approved grants posted on your website? A: We publish the names of successful applicants.. See our Funded Projects Database for a comprehensive listing of grants and awards that we have funded. Q: Who serves on your review panels? A: Our peer review panel members are some of Canada's most highly respected urology oncologists, radiologist clinicians and cancer specialists. Q: I am an investigator who is doing research outside Canada. Can I apply for research grant funds? A: Yes, but only if you are based in, or formally affiliated with, an eligible Canadian host institution, such as a university, research institute or health-care agency. We encourage international collaborations. Co-investigators can be from outside of Canada. Q: When can I apply for funding? A: We post the competition timelines on our website. Q: Do you support new investigators? A: Yes. Our Discovery Grant competition has a section specifically for new investigators to build on their innovative ideas. Researchers are encouraged to leverage these awards for longer-term operating grants from other funding agencies. Q: What is the success rate for grant applications to Prostate Cancer Canada? A: Like every other major granting agency we face financial constraints and want to ensure that we are funding research excellence. Success rates will vary by competition. In the 2012 Pilot Grant program, we funded 16 grants. We did receive significant increase in applications over the previous year; of the 125 applications received, the funded grants represent 13 percent of submitted applications. For the 2012 Clinician Scientist award, we received two applications and both were funded.
