Rocco Rossi
President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Managing Director of PCCN

Rocco Rossi is a Canadian businessman, executive and former political candidate. After graduating from McGill and Princeton University, Rocco’s career included positions with Advanced Material Resources, The Boston Consulting Group, Torstar, Labatt/Interbrew and MGI Software.

Rocco’s vast board experience is through his work with the United Way of Greater Toronto, AMR, the Ivey Foundation, the Internet Advertising Bureau of Canada, Toronto’s 2008 Olympic Bid and the Empire Club of Canada. He is also a supporter of Rotary International, Presidents of Enterprising Organizations and the Young Presidents' Organization. Rocco was the CEO of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario from 2004 – 2009 and from 2009 – 2011, was active in municipal and provincial politics.

Dr. Stuart Edmonds
Vice President, Research, Health Promotion and Survivorship

Dr. Stuart Edmonds joined Prostate Cancer Canada in February 2012. During his time at the organization he has spearheaded the launch of the Research Strategic Plan, providing the direction for research and survivorship activities for 2012-2015. From this plan, PCC has launched numerous new research programs based on the key pillars: Collaboration, Innovation and Talented People. Dr. Edmonds has also instituted a fair and transparent peer review process to steward and safeguard funds raised in support of prostate cancer research and to ensure that only the most promising, high quality research is funded.

Prior to joining PCC Dr. Edmonds held leadership roles at the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer, the Canadian Cancer Research Alliance and the National Cancer Institute of Canada. Stuart holds a doctorate in pharmacology from Oxford University.

Tom Fischer
Vice President, Finance & Regulatory Affairs

Tom is a graduate of the Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario with an honors degree in Business Administration. Tom has held various senior financial management roles in the for profit sector. Prior to joining PCC Tom was Vice President, Mergers and Acquisitions, Corporate Development with Siemens in Canada where his role was to acquire within Canada and the US small to medium sized operations to fill strategic gaps within the building automation, fire and life safety and security business sectors.

Randy Hutchings
Vice President, Marketing & Philanthropy

Randy was the Senior Vice President of Operations at Walmart Canada. He has delivered retail management, organizational development, marketing and human resources in a series of different and increasingly senior roles all over Canada.

At Walmart and in his community, Randy has contributed or led fund-raising and philanthropic efforts, mobilizing staff and partners alike to contribute volunteer time or donor dollars to a campaign.  Randy is a Founding Member of the Women in Leadership Council at Walmart Canada and as the Executive Sponsor of the Walmart Hockey Challenge in 2011-2013, raised over $300K for the Children’s Miracle Network.

Mark Mahl
Executive Director, Western Region

Mark Mahl joins Prostate Cancer Canada after assisting UBC Kinesiology and finishing a successful maternity leave contract with the VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation as the Associate Director of Events.  He moved to Vancouver five years ago to take a position with the Rick Hansen Institute for Spinal Cord Injury from Alberta where he was a Director with the MS Society of Alberta. Prior to joining the non-profit world Mark is a former Teacher, College Volleyball Coach, Pro Beach Volleyball Player and Athletic Director. He has a seven year old rescue dog with no eyes from Tijuana, Mexico, named Furgel D. Mark enjoys heading to the beach, travelling, anything active, hockey, football and the arts.

Ellen Townshend
Executive Director, Atlantic Region

Ellen joined Prostate Cancer Canada in 2013 and currently leads the Atlantic region.

Prior to joining PCC, she held senior leadership positions with regional and national organizations including CIBC, Junior Achievement, and Tourism Charlottetown. She has a broad experience base to draw from, having led teams in various roles including public relations, community investment and business development.

Ellen holds a Bachelor degree from Mount Saint Vincent University and has continued her professional advancement at the Boston College Centre for Corporate Citizenship and Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy. She is the Atlantic Canada representative for the Association of Fundraising Professionals Canadian Council and Vice President of the Association of Fundraising Professionals in Nova Scotia.

Jamie Howe
Director, Direct Marketing

Jamie is a specialist in direct response fundraising and marketing. He has more than 20 years of experience providing strategic leadership to a large number of charitable organizations from both the agency and the client perspectives in the planning and management of integrated marketing programs. Jamie is directing the development and management of direct marketing fundraising solutions for Prostate Cancer Canada, using his multi-channel direct marketing experience and communications skills to fundraise and help to build the Prostate Cancer Canada brand.

Andrew Johnston
Director, Accounting

Andrew joined Prostate Cancer Canada in 2010 following a move from Scotland.  Since completing his chartered accountancy training with KPMG, Andrew has spent 25 years in the not for profit and further education sectors, holding managerial and senior accounting roles.  Achievements included developing financial models which improved financial and management decision making.  At Prostate Cancer Canada, Andrew is responsible for the day to day operations of the Finance department.  This includes reporting on the financial status of the organization to our Audit & Finance Committee and Board, and developing and managing our annual budget.   

Falyn Katz
National Director, Corporate and Community Development

Falyn is a graduate of Concordia University in Montreal, QC. With nearly seventeen years of business development, management, marketing and sponsorship experience; Falyn has a track record of success fundraising millions of corporate dollars from some of North America’s largest businesses. Falyn joins us following a successful career at Solutions with Impact and Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation where she was responsible for National and Ontario Region new business development across all programs and events in addition she stewarded a portfolio of existing partners. She provides expertise, passion, persistence, and professionalism to Prostate Cancer Canada in her role of National Director, Corporate and Community Development.

Yaz Maziar
Director, Digital Marketing

Yaz was thrilled to join Prostate Cancer Canada in June 2013 as Director, Digital Marketing. Previously, he spent more than six years with the Heart and Stroke Foundation (HSF) as digital lead for web and social media. His accomplishments at HSF include creating and managing all social media brand-level properties from inception. In particular, his leadership on Facebook was instrumental in building an engaged community of over 100,000 fans. He also held lead accountability for HSF’s bilingual consumer website and doubled the number of monthly visits during his time.

Yaz is now using his many talents leading Prostate Cancer Canada’s digital strategies to maximize fundraising and mission impact. Yaz grew up in Willowdale, Ontario, and has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto. He is married with one young boy, and is a fan of all things related to technology as well as an avid film buff.

Maureen Rowlands
Director, Support Services

Maureen Rowlands is the Director of Support Services at Prostate Cancer Canada, the department accountable for providing information, resources and support to prostate cancer survivors and their circle of care and support. She is leading the development and implementation of a nationwide patient-centered survivorship strategy with the goal to achieve substantial and measurable improvement in quality of life for prostate cancer survivors and their partners, caregivers and family members across Canada. One of her key roles is the establishment and oversight of a trans-disciplinary national collaborative network that draws on professionals from both clinical and community settings. The network aims to create strategies that have a positive impact on clinical practice, create supportive environments and strengthen links between community and clinical settings. The process will catalyze innovation that delivers system-wide improvements to create and implement evidence-based health solutions. Maureen is a strategic leader with many years of experience in leading health services, program evaluation, knowledge transfer and fostering strategic partnerships. Maureen holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Education from Dalhousie University and a Master of Arts in Educational Studies from the University of British Columbia.
