International Volunteer Day (IVD) celebrates the great things we can achieve through the generosity of the human spirit! Designated by the United Nations over 30 years ago, each December 5th is a day dedicated to promoting global volunteerism and recognizing all who give their time, energy, and skills to make positive changes throughout the world.
At Prostate Cancer Canada, every day we celebrate the hundreds of kind-hearted individuals who volunteer for us each year. Whether it’s volunteering in our offices, working the phones for special campaigns, being team leads at events, contributing to research panels, providing leadership, advocating for change, or being an ambassador on our behalf, volunteers play an indispensable role in helping to build awareness, provide education and support, and raise research funds to better detect and treat the most common cancer in men.
On this day especially, we formally join the global community in applauding their efforts!
Sharing that very same sentiment, this year’s IVD campaign recognizes volunteers through the theme
#VolunteersActFirst. Considering the willingness of volunteers to lend a hand, it is a most appropriate way to convey our profound gratitude.
We invite you to join our staff at PCC by giving all our volunteers a much deserved hand for making a difference in so many different ways locally and nationally. On behalf of the 1 in 9 Canadian men who will be diagnosed with prostate cancer and their families, we applaud each of our cherished volunteers for the precious gift of their time, effort, and enthusiasm!
