This webinar will focus on describing what the prostate is and what it does. Risk factors for the development of prostate cancer will be described as well as what symptoms and signs might be present that would give a clue to abnormalities of prostate health, including cancer. If cancer is suspected, a brief description of what diagnostic tests might be needed will be reviewed as well as next steps after a diagnosis of prostate cancer is established.
   
 
 

Scott NorthScott North's Biography:

Dr. Scott North is a graduate of the University of Ottawa medical school and he received his training in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology at the University of Alberta. He is also keenly interested in medical education and pursued a Masters in Health Professions Education from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is the Section Chief of Medical Oncology at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton, AB and the Division Director of Medical Oncology within the Department of Oncology at the University of Alberta. He currently serves on the executive of the Genitourinary site for the Canadian Cancer Trials Group and the Canadian Uro-Oncology Group. His clinical practice is exclusively in the area of genitourinary cancer.
